The team and I are here to assist you with troubleshooting issues in times of urgency. Our goal is to get you back to business without delay.

Generally when customers are talking to me they have a fault on their phone system and are quite often under pressure to get a resolution. I would love to share a few quick tips with you so we can resolve issues faster and more efficiently for you.

Today’s tip is the key starting point for any fault finding.  Identifying what the issue is can save you so much time. We want to work out if the issue is affecting incoming/outgoing calls or the system as a whole.

Check your handset screen

The first troubleshooting action you take is have a quick look at your handset screen located on your desk, Is there a display on the handset? Does it look normal with the time/date and extension number displaying on the screen? Or, is the display completely blank?

What calls are being affected?

If the display is working on your handset, we need to now check your inbound and outbound call traffic to determine which is being affected. If you call us we can log a fault on your behalf or 132255 is Telstra’s Line Fault number. Generally Telstra faults can identify if there is an issue with the lines by running tests with you over the phone.

No display on your handset screen?

If you do not have a display on the handset, this can generally mean 1 of 2 things. The UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) is not functioning, if this is the case there will be no lights on the system. The second possibility is that there could be an equipment issue.

If you can hear the UPS beeping try bypassing the power connected to the UPS and connect directly to mains power and this will get you up and running. Give us a call and we can organise a replacement UPS. If you need hand locating this give us a call we would be more than happy to help.

If there are lights on the system but the handsets are not responding or not displaying correctly call our service department and we can have one of our qualified and experienced technicians booked to attend your site straight away.
